The (Surprising) Effectiveness of Peacebuilding - understanding the composition of aid in post-conflict countries that avoid conflict relapse.
Gary Milante, Stockholm International Peace Research Institute
Gary and his co-authors examine whether specific types of aid support lasting peace. They look at the composition of aid – specifically, what is peacebuilding in the broader envelope of ODA in a variety of post-conflict cases – and find that it is the quality and type of peacebuilding that correlate with a lasting peace. They also find that peace investments compound; early investments are correlated with a longer peace.
